"Night Of 1,000 DJ's!!!"

Since the dawn of civilization, when one of our Neanderthal ancestors whacked on a piece of stretched animal hide with a stick and the rest of the clan boogied 'round the fire to the beat, everyone has wanted to be a DJ. (Rock stars probably started there, too, but that's an analogy for another event). The trouble is, every clan only has room for a couple of hide beaters, with perhaps a fill-in or two. So what's a modern tribe of Homo Sapiens to do when everyone *still* wants to be a DJ? Well duh, light more fires and pass the stick!

On March 17th, 2002, we held the "Night Of 1,000 DJ's" at GQ in Rochester, NY. We put out an open call before the event: even if you've never beat on a hide with a stick before, but have always wanted to, come on down! What we ended up with was seven-hour, three-room event with 14 DJs and a band. A mad time was had by all, and you can look for a "Night Of 1,000 DJ's II" in the months to come.
